"My first formal art classes began in the seventh grade and throughout high school and college I took almost every available art class offered to me. While pencil and pastel are my favorites, I work in a variety of mediums and like to try new things. As long as I can remember I have loved animals and drawing and combining these two passions into animal themed art. Finding and observing the local wildlife of rural Montana is a hobby that is often the subject of my drawing and photography. Fine detail is important and I try to make my subjects appear as lifelike as possible so the viewer sees not just the animal but its spirit as well. My main artistic focus is equine and wildlife art and pet portraits in pencil and pastels."
